The 43rd Carnival of Heep En Secondary School: The embodiment and model of holistic education-SEEDINO brand sponsorship

In this rapidly changing society, the significance of education goes far beyond the imparting of knowledge, but also to cultivating students' moral character, skills and social responsibility. The SEEDINO brand is honored to sponsor the 43rd Carnival of Heep En Middle School. This event is not only a grand gathering, but also a concrete embodiment of Heep En Middle School’s holistic education philosophy.

This year’s 43rd Carnival of Heep En Secondary School: the embodiment and model of holistic education, was successfully held on the 19th of this month.

Heep Yen School The Carnival aims to raise funds for the Heep Yun School Education Fund. It was a day for students to show off their creativity and wow all the guests with their amazing booth and game designs. More importantly, it is a time for Xie En's old classmates to reunite, allowing them to return to school and support their schoolmates.

Background of the Heep Yun Secondary School Carnival

Heep Yan's "fun fair" is often written as "fun fair", which makes people think that it is just a game stall day, opening the school to the public for "fun". "Entertainment" has actually been included in the school anthem of Heep En School. The line "According to the virtues of recreation and entertainment, I am eager to learn" is taken from "The Analects of Confucius." "Shu Er": "Confucius said: 'Aim for Tao, base on virtue, rely on benevolence, and swim in art.'" It means that students should establish lofty ideals, cultivate noble moral character, be kind and friendly, cultivate noble sentiments, and be proficient in all kinds of things. skill.

In the past, talent cultivation was based on the cultivation of the six arts, allowing students to master the six arts, namely "ritual, music, archery, imperialism, calligraphy, and mathematics." Although the connotation of modern education has been transformed, it is still inseparable from cultivating the development of students' six educations: moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual. By organizing the annual "Fun Fair", teachers and students of Xie Yan work together to experience first-hand what "whole-person education" means.

Adhering to the concept of holistic education, Heep Yun Secondary School has regularized the fun fair in the 1980s and scheduled it to be held on the third Sunday of January every year to raise funds for the "Heep Yun Education Fund" under the name of the Heep Yun School Management Committee. Funds will be used to optimize school facilities and support students with financial needs to participate in different learning activities. The school sincerely hopes that students, regardless of their family background, can benefit from it equally, share high-quality Christian education, and celebrate the grace of God.

In the past, the recreation fair was transformed into a "small recreation fair" twice due to the epidemic and social conditions, and was not open to the public. Excluding the epidemic for three years, the recreation fair has been in its 43rd year, from building "clothes bamboo" to building "angle iron frames" , it can be said that it has experienced social changes.

Every year, in addition to Form 6 students preparing for the HKDSE, students from Form 1 to Form 5 are required to prepare a game booth for their class. From theme decoration, game design, gift collection, material delivery, booth construction, to publicity and promotion, editing duties, etc., all are handled by the students, allowing students to get out of their comfort zone and connect with each other after the epidemic. Even if the process is full of challenges, teachers and students can always work together to learn from each other, support each other, and work together to solve problems, and achieve each unique stall. Students can also learn to be courteous, friendly, and neither arrogant nor humble when interacting with external organizations and the public. Attitude interactive communication.

With the changes of the times, today's entertainment fairs have incorporated new elements such as technology and environmental protection. In conjunction with the teaching and practice of visual arts subjects and through the school-based "Science and Technology" curriculum, students applied different science and engineering concepts and technologies to create various "moving" and aesthetically pleasing designs. With God's grace, the school hopes that on the one hand, the fair can keep pace with the times and continue to equip students with various knowledge and skills, and on the other hand, it can inherit the traditional spirit and values of Heep Yan to respond to different needs in a changing world.

In addition to passing on skills and cultivating students with good qualities, the entertainment party is also an important day for the old students and friends of Xie En to "go home". People who have been away from each other for many years can gather together at the entertainment party to recount the love and events of the past, and witness the various developments of Heep En under the grace of God. I hope that even if times change, the friendship between Heep Yun and everyone in Christ will remain unchanged. We also hope that with God’s care and protection, Heep Yan’s annual carnival can continue to be a blessing to the school, the community and the next generation.

Introduction to Heep Yan Secondary School

Heep Yunn School (English: Heep Yunn School) is located at 1 Nong Po Road, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1936. It is a direct subsidy girls' secondary school under the Hong Kong Anglican Church and one of the 22 member schools of the Hong Kong Aided Schools Council. 1, so it is known as one of the 22 "traditional prestigious schools" sponsored by the Hong Kong Church.

The earliest origin of Heep En Middle School can be traced back to 1886, when Ms. Margaret Johnstone, an Anglican missionary, founded a girls' Chinese school - Fairlea Girls' School (also translated as Fairlea Girls' School). . Ms. Zhuang Seduan rented a three-storey building named "Fili" owned by the famous Jewish businessman Mr. R. Belilios. The school was located at the current site of St. Paul's College on Bonham Road and was founded. The purpose was to teach basic knowledge to the daughters of Chinese Christians.

In 1912, the church moved to No. 4-6 Babington Road because the church wanted to open St. John's Boarding House on the school site; in about 1918, the Caine Road campus of St. Stephen's Girls' School was damaged by the Shantou earthquake and moved to Feiliba Bing. Dundao school building, but the two schools still operate independently. The two schools moved to No. 2 Lyttelton Road in 1924, and five years later the east wing of the school was added. At the same time, Feili Girls' School opened a secondary school.

In 1936, on the orders of the Department of Education and the Anglican Diocese, Feili Girls' School and another Anglican girls' school located in Songwangtai: Victoria Home and Orphanage (also translated as Victoria Home and Orphanage, Victoria Girls' School) , Victoria Girls' School and Orphanage, founded in 1887) merged to establish a new school. The school is located on Beibeilong Farm Road to solve the problem of insufficient development space of the two schools; at the same time, all orphans from the residential home were transferred to Tai Po Agricultural Chemical Institute.

On October 23, 1936, the then Governor of Hong Kong, Howard Ho, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the new school on Nong Po Road. The school building was dedicated by Bishop Mo Shouzeng on May 19 of the following year and opened the next day. The new school was named "Xie En" - which means "two schools collaborate to witness the grace of God"; and the school motto further explains the meaning of the school's name: "Work together to borrow grace, believe in the Lord and love the community."
