[Hong Kong Children's Swimming Competition] A miracle against the odds in the wind and rain! Four moving perspectives from behind the scenes at the Seed Cup 628 Short Course Competition

In the fast-paced city of Hong Kong, parents are always looking for extracurricular activities that can help their children build physical strength and cultivate a strong will. The "Hong Kong Children's Swimming Competition" is undoubtedly one of the most popular choices in recent years.

Recently, the highly anticipated "Seed Cup 628 Short Course Competition" concluded successfully despite stormy weather. Join us in witnessing the miracle of resilience in the face of adversity at the Hong Kong Children's Swimming Competition! Let's explore the four touching perspectives from behind the scenes of the Seed Cup 628 Short Course Competition.

This event was not just a competition of speed and skill, but also a profound lesson in life education. A perfect event is never a one-sided effort.

Today, we will take you on a deep dive into this heartwarming and tearful swimming event from four distinct perspectives: young swimmers, parents, referees and lifeguards, and the logistics team.

The transformation of over 300 young swimmers: "The water was cold, but my heart was full of passion!"

For the young swimmers, the "Seed Cup 628 Short Course Competition" was a sudden "adversity challenge." On the day of the event, the weather was severe, with cold winds and rain. For children just a few years old, simply standing on the starting block required immense courage.

  • Moments of overcoming fear: Many young swimmers shivered during warm-up, but at the sound of the call, their eyes became instantly resolute.

  • Embodying sportsmanship: In the intense competition of the short course, it's not just about explosiveness, but also technique and mental fortitude during turns. Whether leading or trailing, the children gave their all until the very last moment.

A young swimmer's thoughts: "Although it was freezing when I jumped into the water, hearing the cheers from the stands made me want to just race to the finish line! After swimming, I felt like I had grown a little taller!"

This is the core value of the Hong Kong Children's Swimming Competition: teaching children to persevere through challenges and understand that success requires the tempering of sweat and tears.

Parents' Protection - The most anxious yet proudest "strongest support" by the pool deck

In the stands, there was a group of people whose nervousness was no less than that of the participants – the parents of every young swimmer. For this competition, parents had arranged training and adjusted diets months in advance, and on the day of the event, they braved heavy rain to escort their children to the venue.

  • Unconditional Support: Offering warm water bottles, wrapping them in large towels, and warming their children's cold hands and feet with their warm hands.

  • Change in Mindset: Hong Kong parents used to be labeled as "monster parents," but at the "Seed Cup" competition, we saw more positive encouragement. Parents are no longer solely focused on medals, but rather cherish their children's resilience in "willingly swimming the entire race in the rain."

From a parent's perspective, children's swimming competitions are not just a contest, but also a profound bonding agent for parent-child relationships. Witnessing their children bravely pursue their dreams in the lanes, that feeling of emotion is incomparable to any honor.

Professional Referees and Lifeguards - 8.5 Hours of Silent Guardianship

If the young swimmers were the stars of the show, then Venue Director Mr. Kam and the team of professional aquatic staff were the solid foundation of this stage. Under the challenge of adverse weather, the safety and fairness of the competition faced immense challenges.

Professional Lifeguards: Life Guardians Battling the Cold Water

Especially touching was the team of lifeguards silently standing by the pool. From 9:00 AM until the last swimmer safely exited the water at 5:30 PM, for a full 8 and a half hours, their gaze never left the surface of the water. In the cold weather, they maintained a high level of vigilance, ensuring the safety of every participating child. Their dedication is truly admirable.

Referees, Timers, and Records Team: Unwavering Fairness Down to the Slightest Margin

The short course race is extremely fast-paced and over in a flash. The referee and timing team maintained a high degree of focus and professionalism throughout the tight schedule. They did not miss any detail, ensuring the entire competition was fair, just, and smooth with their selfless efforts, giving every hardworking child the most accurate reward.

Various Positions and Reception Team: The Warmest Sunshine in the Wind and Rain

The operation of a large-scale Hong Kong Children's Swimming Competition heavily relies on a vast network of logistics and reception. On the day of the "Seed Cup 628," the volunteers and staff responsible for registration, maintaining order, and being ready to handle emergencies became the most heartwarming sight at the entire venue.

Facing the cold weather and chaotic rainy conditions, the logistics team had no complaints:

  • Warm smiles: Eased the pre-race tension of the young swimmers.

  • Thoughtful assistance: Directed lost parents and comforted them.

It was these unsung heroes, silently dedicating themselves behind the scenes, who used their passion to dispel the chill of winter, becoming the warmest sunshine on that cold and rainy day.

On the day, the organizing committee also sincerely invited Mr. Cheung Dik-yung, the founder and owner of Dik Wing Club, a registered swimming club under the Hong Kong China Swimming Association Limited, to be the award presenter. Coach Cheung Dik-yung not only encouraged all the young swimmers to persevere, but also took photos with the award-winning young swimmers.
